About The image is how the camera interpreted low light through long exposure. It was not too dark yet for a 30 second exposure to produce the desired effect so I ended up taking 5 pictures and merging them afterwards.

Agreed. I face the same issue. And I found the reason being - I post process in photoshop and while saving as jpeg I go for low quality (8). I think your problem of unsharp images will also be solved if you follow this method

When uploading, make sure it's sharpened properly and turn OFF the sharpening option in the upload screen.
It's not as good by far as anything your editors can do, and can actually degrade images if they're as sharp as they're supposed to be.

Hi Jeroen and thanks for your comment. The interesting bit about Usefilm is that whenever I upload pictures to it, they do not come out as sharp as the originals. Different story with Flickr though. They come out as they are supposed. Check out the enlarged version of the same photo on Flickr. Quite different. Check it out http://www.flickr.com/photos/meanman94/2722379071/sizes/l/

Colouration and composition are nice, but it's indeed not sharp enough to work.
In the clouds and water that's perfectly acceptable as those move during the exposure, in fact the movement there helps to create a dreamlike atmosphere.

For the fixed objects, especially in the foreground, it's not good.

Not sharp. This kind of picture needs high sharp focus, small apperture and long exposure and there the noise comes in. You need to make truce between these. By the way, this is just my humble observation. I like to composition.
