Great Work !! Great photograph !! Great use of monochrome !! Probablly do not need more contrast just try to play with image in photoshop and use filters : greem, red or blue , to darken or brighten some gray colors and bring out details.

It is all done in photoshop. You can use adjustment layers or you can make it without.
Use Gradient map to convert image to monochrome - b&w and then boost the contrast until you satisfy with result and look. Boosting contrast will not work on all images to create such look. With adjustment layers - the same steps but then you work and manipulate layers.
