First I would prefer this shot in color. If the horses are photogenic as you say this would bring it out.
I find the fence wire on the bottom left and the tree, middle right somewhat distracting. I would have cloned them out.
The horse on the left seems a little washed out. Could have improved the contrast and sharpness to bring out more detail.
Though its not your fault both horses look bored to death. Also the horse on the left seems to have a tree growing out of its head. Another clone job needed.
This is my opinion only and in no way should reflect on your ability as a photographer.

Its not good. There is nothing going on in the scene. Its a picture of snow around a house. I don't the slight pink tint
which you were trying to use to make the picture "moody".
Its my opinion and I could be wrong but you put for a critique. Nothing personal.

Nice-Like the detail in the feathers.
Very hard not to get the blow out of the white. I would minus
the Ev about 2/3 a stop or shoot in Raw.
The A700 is a great camera. that's what I use.

I like the perspective you have used for this shot.
Very nice color also.
I would just crop a little off the bottom to get rid of that white fence or bridge left of center.

I think the sky is to dark.Based on your comment it really
does not look like early morning light.
Maybe I would crop it just on top of the rocks on the bottom.
I like the colors and the reflection is outstanding. Nice and sharp also.
