Hi Steve, The contrast between the reds and the blues makes this shot very appealing. Also, the relatively low pov creates a nice perspective in this shot.
Two things I wonder about though. First, the lamp in the top right quadrant seems a bit redundant to me, and I don't think it really adds to the image. Even stronger, it's more of a distraction than an addition, as it places the center of attention more towards the left of the image; it creates a feeling there's too much space on the right, which I believe wouldn't have been the case if the lamp was kept out of the composition. Not sure if that is a feasible option, though.
Secondly, The fact that the lower edge of the bridge intersects with the bottom right corner draws a bit too much attention to it. I don't think it's that important a feature, though. Maybe if you had allowed a bit more of the bottom side of the bridge in the composition, it wouldn't have been noticeable, and maybe even an addition to the composition, the dark area seems a bit small compared to the area occupied by the sky. Don't think I would've noticed that if the bridge hadn't intersected with the lower right corner, though. (that's what I meant by drawing attention to it)
Either way, a very appealing photo, and very well captured, preserving the details in the bridge as well as preventing blown out parts in the metal. Great camera control, and a very good shot.
Cheers,
Hugo

Great idea Steve!and i like your original shot more than Dan's PSwork...there's more magic in the 1st one, more atmosphere, it's warmer... and it reminds my easy xmas time... i d apply these acid, contrasted colors to other cityscape pictures... best regs

The redish color of the pipes produces a nice contrast with the strong white; on top of that the writing is well located on opposite corners of the picture which adds some diagonal sense to the whole composition. The simplicity of the colors as well as the texture reduces the noise that color may bring to photos. I quite like the simplicity of this photo. Well done, congratulations.

Nice eye, Steve. Excellent lighting. I can't decide whether the writing in white adds to this appealing photo or takes away from it.
Okay, still trying to decide, looking at the photo again and giving it some thought. I think the writing adds to it BECAUSE you've got it in opposite corners but not in equal amounts.
I still like this!
Best wishes, Dave

Hello Marco, and thank you very much for your comprehensive comment! Your mention of the building on the right made me realize that I could very easily clone it out. I will try that variation - thanks!

nice building and interesting shot. I like the tilted shape, and maybe that's why you couldn't get rid of the top of the building on the right. It would have been better without that distracting top. but the lighting and the sky work really great and the cast shadows on the front columns are great in contrast to the rest of the 'old' facade which is in shadows. Well done.
