Hi Grant,

Thaks for your kind comments and your suggestion - The shot is cropped by only a small amount - maybe 10% of the right side. The original foreground isn't quite so dark - I may try using a Levels layer in Photoshop to lighten it a bit for the web.

Best regards,
SteveR

Dan,

This is absolutely beautiful! I especially appreciate the photo you included of how you set this up. I haven't seen anything better-explained in a photo magazine. U da Man!!!

Bring me the file some day, and I'll print a 13x19 for you!

Best regards,
SteveR

P.S. - did you survive the earthquake yesterday OK ;-)

Your composition has a very strong feeling to it, Greg. I especially like the way you left that little bit of color in the sign. Taken long after rush hour, I imagine?? As I recall, these street coordinates put it right under Macy's.

My Dear Friend Kamran!

What a beautiful image! I love the way you cropped this one - it emphasises the outward-flowing lines of the horn.

How did you know that I would like the bold red color?? :-) :-)

I'm honored that you mentioned me in the "About"

Best regards,

Hi Gayle,

Get DOWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNN Girl!

One of your best - I love the way you abstracted the rails into the 3 converging lines. Also, you included just enough of the background, nicely blurred out, to give a little context. I like the blue reflection in the lower part of the near rail.

SteveR

I really love this one! Besides the wonderful colors and way you framed the image with forest on top and a border of leaves at bottom - the thing that really appeals to me, as a Westerner, is the combination of the familiar, the old Pepsi logo, with the exotic -the Farsi script.

Thank you so much for all of your kind comments and taking the time to comment on my photos!

SteveR

"Great minds think alike!" - I took one almost like this one in Atlanta two weeks ago - but yours is better ;-)

I like the repeating pattern of both the tomatoes themselves and also the green stems.

Hello Kamran!

A beautiful sky with amazing clouds and pure blue above, wonderful sunset colors at the horizon. Using the silhouette from the building and the utility poles adds nice framing to the sky photo. Wonderful!

A beautiful abstraction, Lou! The geometry and the colors are outstanding.

I was in this plant several times in 1972 and 1973 when it was the Pratt Street Station of Baltimore Gas & Electric Co!

Beautiful, Lou! It reminds me of that famous Life cover photo of Fort Peck Dam by Margaret Bourke-White for the 1st issue of LIFE magazine, 1936.

A really lovely image, Gayle! I like the combination of (almost) monochrome angles and shapes around the edges and then the bold colors of the umbrellas. It pays to look up. Glad you are back!

I love a good grafiti photo, and this is one of the best I've seen, Gayle! I like the way you got the orange wall in the background so that it sets off the dark dumpster. And the Valentine's day heart is perfect.

Very strong portrait, beautifully done. The streaked colors in the background add to the Jamaican flavor. Yes, I can hear the reggae!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaa!
(that's my Digital Rebel yell upon seeing this amazing photo)

Paul, this is a superb abstract - fantastic, the way you based it on the repeating arcs -both the real ones and the ones made simply of shadow. Wonderful texture in the stone.

First-rate composition. I put a blue ribbon on this one.

Best regards,
SteveR

A wonderful composition, and I'm surprised at how well this color works - I never would have thunk it.

Thanks for your comment on my photo - I'm very glad it led me to discover your excellent portfolio.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your kind comment! No, I didn't line these up in any special way - just shot it as is. I think the language on the bottle 2nd from right is Chinese, as Brunie has a Malay majority and a Chinese minority. It's a former British colony, so English is still widely used, otherwise, the official language of Brunei is Malay, using Latin characters.

Hello Professor Ken,

Beautiful composition - love the combination of the arc with the angles. And of course, the couple strolling buy adds scale and a human element.

Thanks for your humorous comment on the "Hot Dog" photo of my son! ;-) I loved it.

Hello, Mark,

I'm sorry it took me so long to get around to seeing your wonderful portfolio!

This is an excellent image - the composition is beautiful, and it is a classic, timeless subject.

I like the way you used the directional light to help abstract the roofs into a cluster of different-angled planes - seemingly at first randomly arranged, but after all, there is a rhyme and a beautiful rhythm to the pattern.

Best regards,
SteveR

Many thanks to Daniel, Roberto, and Kevin for your kind commments on this old photo.

Kevin - Approaching Senior Citizenship, I thought I knew old cameras, but "Canon MF" eludes me. What is it?
