Beautiful composition. Wonderful diffuse light to bring out the colors too.

Wonderful colors and a nice perspective. I probably would have included some more at the bottom to show how the leaf was connected to the stalk.

I like this compilation more than the other one. First, the gentle arch arangement is unusual (instant eye appeal) and also makes for a more uniform "horizon." Second, the black background makes the images stand out more.

Thank you Douglas. I agree that this image definately looks different than most shots. It was taken right before sunset on a slightly hazy day, and the pastel look in the image reflects reality. The blacks are black, but they make up a very small part of the image which is dominated by mid tones.

I've taken a very quick look at your portfolio, and that helped me understand you comment. I'll return to spend more time with it and leave some comments.

Nice shot Dave. Great pose, and it's especially nice to be at his eye level.

Striking image with the mostly warm colors. The arrangement of the items probably isn't the best from the perspective you used because of the way they overlap, but I do like the cool item completely isolated from the warm ones. Overall, the image works for me.

Intriguing image with the red background and the blurred figures. Great composition. Thanks for the background info to explain the title.

Cool! Nice composition, and the B&W is great. I like the bird that's just taking off too.

Very funny. Well lit, and the dark background really makes it stand out.

Nice. Wonderful soft colors, and the dark background really makes the mantis and plant stand out.

Very nice. Wonderful light, perfect pose, and a great composition with the empty space on the left.

Nice mood here, and the B&W is great. I might have tilted the camera up a bit to reduce the amount of foreground because there's not much interesting happening there.

Wonderful colors, light, and textures. I would have left more space above the branch.

Nice composition. Taken from the center of the arch, but the focus (the end of the "tunnel") is off center.

I like it. You had great diffuse light which shows off its fur and color well. Great composition that captures the moment of the monkey (?) having finished a bananna, ready to eat another, and hoping to get more.

Wonderful image. Great eye-level perspective, nice eye-to-eye contact, and its outstretched right paw shows some playfulness.

Good and bad. Good: inflight image that's sharp, nice pose so you can see its form and especially its head and eye, interesting light filtering through its feathers. Bad: it's on the dark side, and its grainy/noisy. Overall, the good outweighs the bad. Nice work. Keep shooting.

Great detail on the frog and a nice composition to position it so that the pink petal surrounds it. Nice mix of colors too. The hot reflection in the lower right is a little distracting because at first it looked like the leaf in the lower left.

Thanks Pat. The image I uploaded today is almost at the lens' widest (19 mm). If I shoot at 16 with a slim filter on it, it shows some vignetting, so I rarely shoot wider than 17-19.

Thanks arwa. The "negative space" as you put it is an important part of the image IMO. It gives some space around the marmot so it's not boxed in, and probably more importantly it puts its eyes near the upper power points (the intersection of thirds).

Thank you very much Ingrid for your comment. I've largely settled down, but still travel as much as I can. I've taken a quick look at your portfolio, and will be back to comment on some of the wonderful images that really grabbed my attention.
