Beautiful and amazing shot Cliff, it's really nice. I really like it's been taken with a digital camera... photographs are still in the eyes of the photographer, not in the cameras they use . (Who said beautiful and saturated landscapes weren't possible with digital cameras ).

Inspiring!.

Beautiful and original shot André... how the globalized super-consumer products blur human existance and make all of us more or less the same.... just a spot...

Thanks for your comment. You're absolutely right in your focus appreciation. My digital camera took the wrong focus distance even if I tried to focus on the eye. Digicams are not very reliable.... at least this one :P. I wish I had my SLR for this shot.

Nice try in new fields Taunis. I like the expression of the man and dog, and the bw mood. The sky is overburnt and distracts a little bit. May be you can apply a gradient over it and blend it with a multiply mode in photoshop to add some information there.

Hey John. Nice picture here. I love minimal composition like this one. The play of lines works wonderfully well and the bright blue sky is a nice add.

Hey Mark!.Great photograph here. Both composition and lighting combine great here. You caught the perfect moment of the three guys in a tight, really interesting composition. Great!.

Amazing shot. Perfect light and expression. It could be really interesting if you explain how you did it. Beautiful.

Hi Vexii,

well, this one has almost no postprocessing. I was looking at the tower... I set the ISO to 400 (one of the great things of the W12 is its low noise ratio with high ISOs), set P mode, and subexpose 1.3EV, because this camera tends to overexpose almost anything -usually I set it always -0.7). Then I just clicked. Nothing else .

Beatiful shot. Original composition. I think that creating a dark blue cast over the shot would enhance the sad mood I feel when looking.

Scary one Lukasz!!!,

minimalistic representation works wonderfully well here... oniric, dreamy... Really good idea to remove background, it gives infinite depth to the shot, and make it more scary. Very nice!.

Nothing to be said about this one... except... congratulations!!!!. This is an amazing double portrait, wonderfully exposed!!!. I really love the complicity expression of your models. They look as two sides of the same coin... the happy face of her, and the almost sad face of him...... it works it works it works terrific!!!.

Hi Matej,

I developed my technique purely by trial and error, probably it's not the best one, but it works for me. The original usually is a colour photography... so I first have to desaturate it... sometimes I just use the saturation slider, other I go to the channel mixer and I select the most accurate one.

Then I decide what effect I want to achieve, I usually think of what highlights, midtones, and shadows colours I want. Finally I create some layers and combine them using different blendings to get the effect. You need to know the effect of each blending so you slowly go near and near the effect you have in mind.

In this particular case this image is composed of three layers. One uses colour dodge, the open pin light. The three tones in each individual layer are: pure magenta, pure cyan, and the background has a dark blue colour.

It's a long process combining opacities and blending options, and also sometimes tweaking colour balance of each layer in a "highlight", "midtone", or "shadows" bases.

But you have full control of the effect you want to achieve.

And... that's it. I know there are options for auto duotone in PS, and external plugins and programs to do it... but I find more fun and more control doing it manually .

Again wonderful Jeff. Technically perfect, emotionally perfect. I don't agree with another comment stating too much brightness. In fact this is a high key portrait... but the whiteness of the picture enhances the good morning/new day feeling. Just great!.

Beautiful and original shot Jeff. Original from the photographic perspective and from the idea behind the photograph perspective. Technically perfect....

I cannot find a better way to express freedom to love whoever you want.

Thanks for this, Jeff.

Amazing shot. Perfectly exposed for the shadows. The inclusion of the seagull and the surfer is the key difference that makes this one work so well. I cannot find ways to improve it . Well done!.

Interesting try Maria Jose. I find the door quite centered and right woods not quite interesting so may be moving your camera to the left, or cropping that area you could find a more impacting composition. I also find the image quite artificial while the contents are very traditional. I like the duotone you've used but getting rid of the digital canvas you'll find an striking result!.

Beautiful and original composition. Light use to great texture and also to add shadows that led the eye through the photograph are really great. The tension stablished between the model and the thick shadow line makes the photo work wonderfully well. I agree the watch is the only part that breaks the enchantment. May be you can "clean" it with PS .

Beautiful composition here Phil... the lines play work wonderfully. Grey use is fantastic too... and I love vignetting. Who said we need the sharpest state-of-the-art camera to get original and beautiful photographs .

Amazing!. This one is really beautiful Taunis!. In the last few weeks I've been thinking on taking some photographs of these structures... but now.... heheeh... I'll wait a little bit more because what I wanted to take was exactly what you did :P. Perfect composition and perfect colours. The only problem I see is grain. I think it doesn't help improve the final result. Was this noise inherent to the photograph?. I don't think so because CCD noise is not monochromatic... as this seems to be. Have you tried Neat Image... this tools can clean your noise in a very effective way.

powerful shot based on minimal concepts. Composition and exposure is great. A photograph to make us think for a while... great!. Only think I dislike is the digital multichromatic noise. If you desaturate the image you will get rid of the noise and the image will not suffer. You could also try a digital noise removal application like Neat Image or Ninja Noise to remove the noise.

Muy interesante juego de lineas... has sabido jugar con la sobreexposición del cielo creando una dinámica de lineas muy interesante. El virado me resulta un tanto chocante. Quizá desaturandolo un poco el resultado sería aun mejor.

Great one Taunis. Two different attitudes in just one photograph. The girl at the left seems bored. The one at the right seems to have a great time with the fishing. Including all the fish things in the frame is a good idea. I'm not sure about taking only back of the girls, but I think in this case you should had gone into the water to take them from the front .
