Interesting shot. There are movements and spins of all sorts and directions and the camera remains calm and motionless. Interesting pattern of the windmills. Congratulations on the award!

This is a beautiful scene, Jeroen, and not much different than what I might see near my home on a winter day.
I especially like the sun on the tall trees in the background, contrasted against the blue sky. Then the close-up of the (corn?) plant in the foreground, bent over and heavy with frost leads the eye right into the picture. Well composed.
Best regards, Kurt

Beautiful sunset and a simple but very effective and exellent composition.
What distracts me just a little bit are the traffic boards.

But besides that it is a wonderful and very peacefull image of our beautiful Netherland!.

All good,
Tycho

This is such a very cool shot!! I am inspired and may have to try my hand at such a shot since my husband was recently employed by a leading company (based in the Netherlands) who manufactures these wind turbines. He's in the field quite often and around them. It's nice to have clean, renewable energy in our world. This one's going in my favs... well done!

For those that use the term "Windmill", technically they are "Wind Turbines" since they do not mill anything. They generate electricity, therefore they are a turbine. ;)

excellent shot except for those heads. didnt see them on the thumbnail. anyway, shots like this need to be taken quickly, and what you need is a lot of luck when taking them.

good work nonetheless. james

well done jeroen. almost impossible to get photos like this today, at least at major airports anyway. i may have to start finding some smaller airstrips to get something like this.

nicely done. havent seen your photos before but glad to have found this aviation folder.

its possible to take similar photos in bangkok now, there's a highway running parallel to the suvarnabhumi airport. might give that a try later this month when i'm there.

Douglas:
Thanks . . . you should be aware by now that these are re-cycled on ocassion if the cue is clear . . . but I appreciate the compliment.

No 'Pull' at all Doyle because Jeroen is in charge here especially after ONE AND A HALF YEARS! :))

Congrats for having your exact same 'Featured Critique' on the Front Page AGAIN by the SAME PHOTOGRAPHER!

Now is that a coincidence, does it make you feel cheep as in used, or are you just going to enjoy the 'Exposure' (Pun Intended of Course) because you do deserve it ... that's for sure! :))

Sorry I didn't get back earlier Doyle.
To the left was a big jumble of pipes and equipment used to repair the beach there after storm damage, further to the right a seabreak would have disrupted the image.

The contrail I left in because I don't believe in doctoring images (the most I'll do is play with colour balance and contrast).

Hi Jeroen,
This is a very touching composition with the two contrasty hands touching each other with warmth and affection. Certainly very fit for the project, and a nicely excecuted shot. I agree with Liz about the thumb in the bottom side of the frame but that is just a trivial point. The elements in this composition are kind of my new subject since I am a dad now of a seven day old baby. Wish you all the best,
Cheers,
Bhabesh

A very heartwarming photo Jeroen. smooth little fingers up against the textured older hand. The comparison between the two hands certainly fits with the project. The cut off thumb in the lower part of the picture is a slight distraction to me, but I like the image.
Cheers

Hi Jeroen. This shot has been up loads of times on the front page, but no one except Chris has dared give any hint of critique. Well, here goes, from my limited point of view. I'll probably regret this, but it is an EC, after all...

The concept is superb. But I would like to see more space at the top, and a little less grain. There are also white spots I find disturbing. The black line at the top and white line at left are also distracting - amazed no one else has commented on these. And it would be nice to have the settings you used entered.

Not sure about this aspect, but how about the car a little further to the left? The left side of the image is somewhat empty.

BTW, the blur on the vehicle makes it look like an American woody.

Hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but ECs are few and far between, and I'd expect them to be more or less perfect!

All the best, my friend. I know I'm commenting on an image uploaded back in the year dot, but it was on the front page today.

AJ
