FABULOUS!! I'm still trying to figure out how you managed this end result with an 18 second exposure. I assume your camera was mounted on a tripod. I would expect with a train moving that fast, all I would achieve with the shutter open for 18 seconds would be nothing but overall blur and fuzz! So well done!!

Excellent portrait with interesting expression on the subject. Is this the Canadian response to "American Gothic"? If so, your subject does not look nearly as stern and unpleasant. Well done in tone, contrast, composition. Simple and straight forward.

The eyeas are not sharp at all or perhaps my PC isn't addjusted properly?! Too strong light, left ear and the chin amputated what for? Plus, too tight from the top on the eye brow. judging from your portfolio you can do better than this one, can't you? Cheers...

I've never known anyone else that had a Pentax Super Program. It was my workhorse until I got my Nikon 90, which I'm still using. Would love to go digital someday, if I can ever afford it.
Anyway, another great pic.

The light is harsh, yet soft enough that I can enjoy detail in the eyes. I like this man's sensitive-looking face. It might be better if the eyes were sharper, but it is somehow appealing as-is.

this is a pretty good shot in motion. with that in mind, i'm not sure why its in critiquers corner, which should be for photos that need improvement (as i understand it).

best wishes. james

I love this shot, Arne. The sense of movement and excitement is terrfic. I'm not sure why you put it in critiquer's corner, for there's nothing to say but good things. Congratulations on the well deserved award!!
