I like the composition, Sarah! The exposure is a compromise. The harbour scene is slightly over-exposed but OK for this effect. However, I would like some detail in the shadows - it is close, but the shadows could be brought up a little. Susie has a good idea as the crop would simplify the composition. Eb

It has the feel of a distant scene as viewed through mirage haze. It is a wonderful composition and I would also like the unfiltered version. Nicely done, Sarah! Eb

I like the composition, black and white rendering and contrast, Sarah. The over-exposure makes the tones a little harsh. Depending on your camera controls, you may be able to correct such issues where the dynamic range of the scene is too great. It helps to check the histogram in the image review and then you can reduce the exposure if highlights are spiking at the right of the graph. Eb

While maybe not as realistic as you intended, bit I like the result very much. The colors and the lighting make a very pretty scene. Perhaps a bit more like an artists impression than an actual photo but never the less I like it. I think it would be lovely framed and hanging on a wall. Del.

This is really creative Sarah. BTW, it's nice to see some posts from you! I think I would crop out the window frame on the left side, but other than that the crop looks good to me. Maybe darken the highlights on the water and boats? Well seen! Susie

I enjoy the purples. Sunsets come in all colours of the spectrum. I agree the contrast is jsut a tad too much but WOW still a beautiful shot. Lovely composition. Very nicely done. Cheers - Ann

Hi Sarah, This is a charming scene, and well composed. I think the softness is probably because of compression when loading. I always find, the closer you get your image to 360 before you post, the better chance you have of the image coming up the way you want it. I just noticed the shutter speed at 1/30 was it hand held, There might have been a little shake there? Andre

I agree that this has a bit too much contrast, but it's a really pretty shot! I like to try levels when I'm fighting with too much contrast. Sometimes it works better than messing with the brightness and contrast settings. I really don't mind the purple hue! Kathy

Wow Sam! Thanks! I really like what you did with this pic. The contrast is great and it gives the pic more depth and clarity. I appreciate you giving me the step by step instructions. I have Microsoft Digital Image Something or other, and I'm going to give in and get PS next month! From what Kathy and Suz say, it's pretty good and they like it. I'll have to repost after I get it. Thank you for your critique (this is how I learn!). Best regards.
