Great photo! The contrast and leading lines makes it for me. Good photojournalism. I just added a photo so you can see what I have been up to, at least this week.

Ah, there you are. So glad to hear from you again. When I look at this photo I know why I wanted to go to Whitby! But I never made it. Wow, you did an excellent job on this, captured the colors so well. You must have been on the next hill! Makes me want to be there so badly. Please email me at pentoniax@yahoo.com.

Wow! I've never quite made it to Whitby when I've been up that way (nearest has probably been the abbeys near Ripon). Looks like I'll definitely have to make the effort next time, poke my nose into the Cook museum etc.

Sylvia, I was born and brought up in Bristol, not too far away from you there in Cheltenham (lovely town). We have it a LOT hotter in summer here in Japan (up to 95 to 98 degrees, with 100% humidity!), but the winters are quite mild. If you like stitching panoramas, you might enjoy my article on Panoramas (it's in the "Articles" section of Usefilm with links from both the main and community pages). One tip for printing panoramas; use roll paper. Then you can print the full width of the paper and have the photo just as long as it needs to be... It's great watching them slowly come out of the printer, growing longer and longer! I use 4" rolls for most, and 8" rolls for the ones I hang on the wall myself or for other people. All you need is the roll-feed adaptor, which came free with my Epson photo printer.

Sylvia, this one looks exactly the same size as the other one on my screen. (They both look good, though!) It's interesting that with PhotoShop you could not only "save" this photograph but actually turn it into something with an unsual and attractive atmosphere. I see you are active in photo clubs. That might be a good idea for me... I got a lot out of the club I joined when I first came to Japan many moons ago.

Sylvia, I see you live in Glamorgan. My parents came from Cardiff (we are one of the Welsh Williams families, although I've mixed in some Japanese blood now). You took exception to my comment about the dismal British weather, but really, we only had about ten days there, and of those we saw the sun on only two! The Saracen's Head is in the Midlands, at a place called Southwell, famous for the Minster that figures in two of my early uploads to Usefilm. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I do like this photo, which is why I chose to tuck my reply here... Maybe the saturation is a wee bit over the top? [g]

Sylvia, I am still waiting on all those new pics from you. I keep checking. This image has such a calming atmosphere to it. It just slows me down and that is always good. The colors are a blend of calm, a pleasant exchange with a beautiful child. This says so much. Very well done.
