Hey Nish! Nice composition - looks like you were having really hazy skies when you took this. I had no idea you were still posting here - it's cool to get a look at your hometown

The lighting is flat, try shooting when the sun is out, this should help pop some life into the image. (Alternatively, try adjusting the contrast digitally.) A low sun early in the morning or later in the evening might give you interesting results.

A more important objection I have to the image is that there doesn't seem to be any natural point of focus. With the horizon in the centre, the water and the sky are given equal importance, but both of these areas are equally empty... And the land takes too small a portion of the image to really show what's there.

Apart from being a bit overexposed on the light driveway area, this is a lovely shot. The colours are especially good, lush greens. Nice detail on the woodshed itself with the slatted windows. I know you are anti digital retouching Nish, but there is nothing wrong with it IMO. You could darken the driveway a bit in Photoshop quite easily.

Wonderful trophical location. Very nice.

I thought the too much water is distracting a your main subject. So cropped a bit and enhanced the exposure. Hope you would like it. regards, ken.

Nishant, many thanks for your very kind comments. I apologise for assuming you live in the USA - were you just on a visit? I too would be surprised to see a camel in the USA or India! To answer your question about my photos - all of the photos in my portfolio here are from black and white negatives, but of course they have to be scanned (on my Epson Perfection 1650 desktop scanner) to my computer.I don't have a digital camera yet( can't afford one!) but i do know you can convert your colour photos from them to black and white afterwards on the computer.Best wishes. David.

Unusual to see a camel in your part of th world. Apart from the interest of that, it's a pity you haven't tried to make the treatment a bit more eye-catching. A bit of judicious cropping and heightening the contrast and and the saturation of the colours would give the image more pep.

As an image of a landscape I think it have to much non-active space in the composition. Look at my suggestions on how to change it.

That looks dangerous (if one should fall on you). Maybe you could move the focal point a little off center, bring the tree trunk in from an angle and try for a little deeper and more saturated colors. IMO.

The location for "Winding Road" was outside Bakersfield, California, USA. This is NOT known as a scenic area, in fact it is a challange to find scenery around here, EXCEPT once a year during our brief wildflower season.

Oh, and ps: you've placed the subject right in the middle of the frame. consider going at it from the side and moving it to the side more.

Nish, I like this one but the light is too strong. If this is near to you, I recommend reshooting when the light is softer - either early in the morning or late in the afternoon.I'm guessing that this shed faces south? If it's more open sky to the east, go for a morning shot. Obviously to the west, go for the evening. If it's in shade during those times, you might considered a warming filter to remove the blues you'll get from the light filtering through the green leaves. Also a tripod or something to steady the camera on because of the longer exposure time.

Then again, I may be full of it. Anyway, nice composition, Nish. Keep shooting.
