Great silhouette and sunset, may I suggest next time you use a longer lens 300MM or more it will realy enlarge the setting sun

You did great on the composition, good use of thirds, and I like the way the light stikes the back and the sails, which is either and accident or a great eye. Knowing your work, I would say you have a great eye. My computer screen makes this too orange. Good job.

Mark, great composition and lighting. I might have preferred a little lighter treatment with the canvas or a more subtle texture, but I'll bet it looks great printed. Nice shot. Lou

Stunning vivid colours. The lovely warm calm tones of the water with the silouettes balanced by a darker landscape and drawing the eye up to the incredible sky inspire serenity. A beautiful image. The detail is also extraordinary.

A great image, Mark. Excellent compositional, light and tonal balance, and a beautiful ship. Good work. I look forward to seeing more from you!
(Thanks for your thoughtful comments on my Petals. It was taken with available light, and I converted to greyscale then toned in PS to create a soft monochrome mood. I agree with your points about image brightness, commonly preferring it on the darker side myself, and about the significance of shadow detail. As for the highlights, in this case, I just liked the image softness without brighter highlights. It does look nice that way but I opted for this presentation. Thanks for looking and for your suggestions. I appreciate it!)

Hi Mark, Thanks for your comments and excellent advice regarding my photo, cheers.
This is a great work of art. Your post processing here has added strength and drama to the overall sculpture that I?m sure could only be surpassed by viewing the ?real thing?. In my opinion inclusion of the ?original? image, emphasises perfectly what can be achieved with PS, when used as a post processing tool. I think in particular the guy second from the right looks almost ?real?, the added colour, toning and texture is what make this so.
Did you succeed? I think so, This almost appears as though it?s a 'terracotta' sculpture, and that one could almost feel the rough texture, which emphasises perfectly the 3D aspect. However, the fact that the Photo is slightly ?sloping? lets it down a little, (as I find it is a little distracting).
Overall I think this is a great photo, and your description an inspiration. Well done!
Best regards,
Frankie.

The colours and composition here are excellent, and the drama portrayed is stunning I?m only a beginner myself and so couldn?t really ?critique? this image; however, as a viewer I would have liked the DOF to be slightly greater, with the name of the ship ?windy? being sharper. Overall a magnificent photo.
Regards, Frankie.

Brilliant, dramatic work. You've made it reach out and pull the viewer in.

Frankly, I don't differentiate between darkroom work and PS work - some thing to me, different machinery. The image is what counts....

Best regards.
