I think Dominic is missing the point Todd was making. Title and intention aside, I really like this image. I too like Rothko's work and I have been in this gallery trying to find a way to take an interesting photo of it. Didn't do nearly as well as you did...

My name is Imrana Kapetanovic and I have a big favour to ask (rather unusual) - today (29 August 2005) my photo will be displayed as a photo of the day on the Kodak's display at Times Square in New York. Is there any chance that you could take a photo of my picture today? Actually, I will need two shots - one with the picture and the other one with my name. Unfortunatelly, my only cousin who lives in the US is in Seattle and it is a very long way for him to travel just to make two photos.
I know that this is a very unusual request and I will understand if you say no. New York is not a small city like Sarajevo, and I know that there is no such thing a walking distance within the whole city centre.
Thank you in advance and all the best wishes from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Unlike Mr. Miller's viewpoint I don't believe shooting a gallery view of Rothko's work is an "homage" to him. Transporting Rothko's aesthetic into your work would be an homage.

excllent work Lowell...i like how you transposed Rothko's vision and style into a photograph. not only did you find a way to use another medium, but you've borrowed his abstract style to make a literal work. great work..........
i love rothko by the way...this must've been a cool exhibition.
