Hello Luis,

The bubbles are likely from decomposing vegetation in this shallow bay. I don't think it is from polution. The water was relatively clear of debris.

Hi Laurie,

I had the pleasure of raising two baby sqirrels a few years back. I understand your story. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

Dave,

Thanks for posting the link. Debby was an inspiring and beautiful creature. I wish I could have met her.

Hi Doyle,

How have you been?

I tend to agree with your critique, but (and there is always a butt ;^) I do have other shots with better views of her face (Francine, not the horse). She (Francine) likes this one because of the expression on the horses face. I only had a small opportunity to get this shot as well. I was waiting in the car because I had too much lens to photograph the horses. This is a full frame shot, no crop. Anyway, full of excuses. LOL.

Good to hear from you again.

Perhaps, yes. But such is how it appeared in the wild. Thanks for the honest comment. Your portfolio is superb.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for all your kind words. I am glad you enjoy my pics and appreciate all your comments. I don't get much time to review other pictures or comments these days, but I like to keep a presence on usefilm. I realy enjoy your pictures and those of my other usefilm friends, even if I don't post comments as much as I would like.

Keep shootin',

Thank you for the suggestion. I just did.

Glad you enjoyed the picture.

Brigitte (et al),

Didn't mean to cause such a stir with this photo. The title is a little bit "tongue in cheek" as this is definitely the other way around. This male Red-tailed is bringing food back to the nest. The squirrel was captured elsewhere and actually passed off to the female. The female took the sqirrel and flew around with it for a while before returning to the nest. I assume she was just stretching her wings before chowing down. Glad you all like the shot and my apologies for my somewhat twisted sense of humour.

See my next post for a picture of the female carrying the squirrel.

Hi Brigitte,

I believe you are right on both counts. He is a carp and he was jumping out of the water just for fun. Luckily, he did it twice in the same spot. ;^)

Hi Joe,

This photo was taken on May 14th, 2008. Sorry I haven't been in touch. I'm moving next Friday and have had a very busy summer.

Keep in touch.

Hi Dave,

Thanks so much for the kind words. I do feel blessed to work at something I enjoy. I have yet to make a living from it, but my name is getting around and things are starting to happen. I enjoyed this RT Hawk project very much, but was saddened by the demise of their single chick. Perhaps they will try again next year.

Hello Yamil,

This beautiful young lady is a regular visitor to Casselman, Ontario, about a 45 minute drive from Ottawa. We are fortunate that we are within their winter range and regularly have about a half dozen such birds to observe each year in our area between November and March.

Hi Dave,

I believe it is the Tiaga variant, but I would have to check my books to confirm (they are out in the car). Red-tailed Hawk plumage is so varied that I don't always check for variants (perhaps I should). I can tell you that this a mature male. I have been watching him and his mate raise one young chick since mid April. Stay tuned for posts of the baby.

Ken,

All I can say is thank God they're vegetarians.

Thanks for all the kind words. BTW your capture of the gull with the Avocets in pursuit is OUTSTANDING.

Hi Kerry,

This picture was taken April 10. It seemed like this winter would never end. We had the second highest snowfall in Ottawa's recorded history. I really feel for you guys getting dumped on. Hang in there.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hello Alison,

This is a White-breasted Nuthatch. A very cute, comical bird that spends most of its time upside down. It has a very humourous voice as well.

Thanks for your kind comment.

I was wearing a new cologne called "Roadkill". ;^)

Actually, there was a dead racoon a few feet up the road.

Kevin,

Right back at you, Kevin. Ireland, land of many shades of green and rolling hills. Also the home of my Grandmother, Mary Delilah Davis.

Cheers,
