i did (obviously) add a vignette when converting from raw, because the light was pretty flat and I was trying to add some contrast. admittedly, though, i do add some vignette to many of my images, as just a matter of personal taste.

at any rate, i'm glad it had some kind of effect on you, although i'm not sure if peculiar means good or bad : )

thanks for the comment!!

well, you can easily get an 8x10 frame and that is generally a good size for portraits. Is that ok? when would you like to get it? let me know when and I'll bring it to school. oh yeah..you'll have to email me the original file, ok?

very beautiful. I love the monochrome, and the contrast between the straight poles and the bended grasses.

it is still 2005 where i am! : )

I love the stone fences. i'm actually a teacher in henry county, kentucky, and a few years ago a student and I did a photo-essay on kentucky's stone fences. the contstruction seems identical, which makes sense. we found out that irish stonemasons were responsible for most of the stone fences in kentucky, primarily in the bluegrass region. they are disappearing now due to urban expansion, but there are efforts going on to save them.

great landscape!

stunning, as so many of yours are. your style of shooting takes an already incredible scene to a whole new level.

count your blessings to live in such a beautiful area!

you're exactly right, that is what I should have done. would you believe (and i can't believe i am admitting this)...my whole life, i have wanted to travel the pacific coast highway; i finally get the chance, and only one day to do it (i live all the way across the country), and i forget my bleeping tripod???? i could have just died

thanks chris. see my above comment on the horizon; i agree. if you would, see my portfolio for several other variations of the same basic scene on the beach. i think this isn't the strongest, but i do like the wave shape too, so i included it. thanks again!

thank you so much for the comment! i agree about the tilted horizon; it bothers me too. when I tried to fix it, it cropped out the curve of the water on the lower right so i had to live with it. oh well : )

amanda, of course i'd be glad to. what size would you want it? you're welcome to come pick it up next week if you want, or i could just bring it to school when we start back. Just let me know about size, ok? just wrap up an iou for her for christmas : )

I like the soft focus, for a change. The softness makes it more reminescent of a georgia o'keefe painting.
