George, I've found it: it's the Grumman F8F Bearcat. First flight Aug 21, 1944, with a Pratt & Whitney 2100hp engine, and 4 20mm cannons. Nice!

Uhm, that doesn't look like any Corsair I've seen before. I went searching around, and it almost looks like an F6F Hellcat, except for the canopy design. The F6F and F4U seemed to have shared a similar canopy, where the fuselage is raised up above the pilots head.

The pic I replied to George is of a B-17, as you say in the caption. I'll agree with that, only because I don't recall what the nose of a B-17 looks like.
