You are welcome Joe, just play around with the different channels in overlay mode for different effects. Also try soft light mode too. I create different curves for varying effects and then save them. That way it's easy to apply them again to another image. One other tip to get more contrast is to create a new curve, but don't change any settings, just click OK. Then set to Soft Light. Then adjust the opacity for the amount of contrast you want. Really improves a lot of images. Take care.

Hi Joe,
Thanks for your comments. Here is how I got this vivid color, very easy too. In Photoshop (I'm assuming you have that, hopefully), add a curves layer, set to Overlay (very important). Then make changes like I show in my attachment. Change RGB, Green and Blue channels to like mine. Let me know if I can give you more info.

Khalid,

Very beautiful shot! I like the rolling lighting in this image. I have done a lot of reading about the development projects in Dubai lately. Do you live there? My geography is not very good but I am intrigued by the island projects. I have mixed feelings about the results to the environment but it's still interesting.

Thank you for the wonderful comments you left for my images, I appreciate it very much, made my day!

Thanks for the comments too. I guess I don't worry too much about what looks like blown highlights too often. I have the detail in the original but I wanted this to be more high key and I just let the dress and pants run white I guess. To me it really depends on the look that you want in the final image. But good observation and again, thanks for your comments.

Nothing is blown, this picture is soooo cool! What a great shot! I photographed my two daughters like this once and just loved the picture. Very fun and very well done! It does look like you did some PS filter stuff to it though, not quite sure. Either way, that does not matter 'cause I like it.

I think this shot is awesome! I seriously can't think of anything I would change and in fact, it is just a lovely shot!!!! The kids are so cute being playful in the front and then you have the bride and groom kissing in the background, really well done. I like the sepia tone too.

I agree with Louise, think romantic and have them hold each other tight in a shot like this, kissing would be really nice or hugging and maybe kissing her neck. But another nice angle and something other than just smiling at the camera so I like this one.

Bjorn,

I want to comment on your wedding pictures since you say in bio to give some direction on why you like or don't like. It's been a while since I shot a wedding but have shot over 300 in my life. I remember starting out...long time ago.
So on this one I like that you used some nice area to shoot in, not just church, etc.

A few thoughts...I think it's a bit too dark since it "was" a flash shot. But mostly I think the bride should be looking at you or the groom. Everyone is looking somewhere else like it might have been a snapshot. You must be in charge and direct them to bring the best to the image. Pretty good shot though.

Joe, Here is the original with no adjustments at all. I bumped up the contrast by adding a curves adjustment layer (don't change anything, just click OK), then set the blend to soft light or hard light and adjust the opacity until you get the contrast you want.

I then used the healing tool on a new layer and I did most of my smoothing on a new layer using the brush with opacity set to 25% and flow set to 25%, sampling the color next to where I wanted to smooth. Then just work at it slowly resampling the color when you move to a different area of the image. Hope that helps, Joe.

This is beautiful! Everything in this image is perfect. How did you get even her eye color to come through in such simple light? Did you fill with flash or a scrim? Anyway, no matter, it's a lovely shot.

Thanks Evangelos for your comments. I just thought she looked cold-hearted because often times when a guy is trying to get a girl's interest, she can play hard to get. But I felt like in this image she was really giving him the brush-off. At least that's what we were trying to portray I guess.

Thanks Jim! Yes, this was window light. It was done in an old parlor room with tall, big windows. Very beautiful place to shoot and of course Ana is stunning in her own right.
