Can anyone, please, explain to me how I can send any message to anyone, in this site? I receive comments buat I can't find anyone's email or another way to contact people! Is this secret? ;-)

Magdy: You're right about the ear ring! This is a direct scan of the negative, the print is too big for my scanner (11x14"). The ear ring is the same that she has in another photo on my gallery, it's half black and half white. In this case, the light reflectance was so high that we can't notice almost any detail on it! In the print, I burned it a bit and I have some detail, but with this cheap scanner (Epson 1640), I can't bring it out, the Dmax is too low, for that. Thank you for your comment! Nana Sousa Dias

I've seen this photo on another site, it's fabulous! I don't understand why it is so low scored, here!

Artie:

Thank you for your sugestions, but, I need to explain something: I know about soft focuslenses, there is one of those on Pentax 67 system, the 120mm Soft Focus, but, what I'm trying to do here (and this was my first studio session, but it was 3 years ago and know, I have dozens of studio photos, you will see some, here, at Usefilm) is Fine Art portrait and nude, not fashion or comercial photo, to satisfy customers. I like to see everything that really exists in a particular person. Those lens you mentioned are great for comercial use, where everybody must look beautifull, but, my point of view is that we can "see" the most beautifull "side" of each person, without distortion of realyty. Every mark on the skin is part of that person's "story". I hope you understand my point of view, I'm not a professional photographer, and I don't pretend to look like an "intelectualoid", but I'm trying to aproach and learn photography, by its artistic side.

Thank you, Patricia! I was familiarized with the process, but I didn't tried it before, on negatives. I didn't remember I could do that! I have selenium here, in my lab, to tone the prints, I think I'm gonna try that, I have 10 frames very similar to this one, if I destroy it, I have 9 more! ;-)

Deniz:

The negative is very flat, I don't know what hapened here, I develop my films and, usually, I don't do this kind of mistake! Nevertheless, something went wrong, I still don't know what, maybee the film was not ok, not with this particular frame, the entire roll is flat. I agree with you, a bit more contrast, particularly on the sand, would be nice, this was printed in 5 grade filter, i printed it in a difuse light enlarger, and then in a condenser enlarger, to get a bit more contrast, but it's useless! Next time I will carry my 4x5 Wista, shoot for the shadows and develop it with N+2 expansion time, then if I want, I can reduce the contrast! ;-)

Mark: I'm sorry to use your photo, to talk to you, but I don't have your email, mine is ousadias@netcabo.pt, if you want, email me! I think I'm gonna have an assistant, almost like yours, after all! My eldest son is coming to live with me, next month, and he is at the third degree of a photography graduating! As to my studio, I don't rent it, I just pay the rent! ;-)
My studio is my living room, without half of the furniture and a Lastolite background. I am a record producer/composer/musician, not a professional photographer. When you come to Portugal, call me, I'll show you some nice spots to shoot!

Mark: I'm sorry for the trouble! Anyway, I envy (I don't know if this is well written!) you! I would love to have an assistant, even if he would do some mistakes! ;-)
I'm an amateur, but, as I insist in carrying in the field, medium and large format cameras and tripods with steroids, I'm always beging to find a way of selling my photos, to be able to hire an assistant (or to buy a mule, like AA!).
