Thank you Paul for remembering me. I've been around for the past couple of years, I haven't vanished now either, just between jobs and countries. I'll be back ;) Hope you are doing well, best regards.

You are right Paul, I've been told that twelve years ago.
I only took one photo, this place is approx. 250 kilometers from Budapest. I went back two years later, the house was already demolished and I even got a speeding ticket...
Thanks for the comment, best regards.

I don't think it's inappropriate. You didn't create these figurines, as far as I know one can easily find such "naughty" statues, gods and goddesses in the Far East culture. Or shall we consider renessainnce paintings pornographic? I doubt it. As a photo I would say I can see some technical mistakes or I would've tried to take the picture in a different way (the big tree part on the left either should be in focus or should be cropped, it's somewhat disturbing as well as the shadows from the flash on the backrground). Considering the fact that you chose the "humor" category, not photo art, these are just my observations.
Best regards.

Again a great capture Saad. My opinion and suggestion is the same as before, you might want to try wider aperture to blur out the background more so the subject gets clear attention. The afterwork is good, I can only see some traces of the colors around the hair/hat and near the suit. Love the concept though.
Best regards.

I wouldn't have guessed this was a bath(?) or fountain... definitely water though. The silhouette is perfect.

I read the article, thanks for sharing it, it's very interesting and I agree with most of it.
Actually I had no idea that portable cameras already existed by that time. I'll attach a photo of my grandfather, he was a photographer. It would've been sort of difficult to carry around a camera like this one. (approx. 1930)

I think Kertész did something new by that time and people don't always like to think different or out of the box. It might be a stupid example but it's like looking at a photo of a nice landscape or sunset and you can just say "oh, that's so beautiful". But when there's something different, something that is not obvious what actually the artist wants to express with his work, people do not always like to think. Sorry, I'm getting philosophical... :)

Yes, but as far as I know he worked and lived in France and New York after the war. Some of his photos are abstract and/or surreal. Never thought he was considered "street photographer". From my side, I think I fell in love with photography because it gives me a great power, the ability to stop time for a moment. "Capturing fleeting reality" as Henri Cartier-Bresson said.

LOL! You're funny Paul.
In general you were right. Btw I appreciate any comment or opinion, I can upload my photos to a bunch of community sites to get "likes" but nothing useful. That's why I came back here. :)

Thank you for your comment Paul.
This is not a studio photo, I think what you are referring to is called butterfly lighting, where the shadow falls directly under the nose, I can only do that using two lights in a studio.
I am using my own way of lighting when I'm experimenting on myself. I'm holding one desktop light in one hand, I point it directly in the camera to measure light (that's why they are low-key), then I keep the camera still and move the light away to the side, or wherever I can/want, the result is always different. Thank you for again, best regards.

That's a great one Paul, and a brave dude in the photo.
First I thought I'd suggest to crop the tiny blue part from the top so it gives an "endless sea" impression but I'm not sure it would be better at all.
It's excellent the way it is.
Best regards.

It's a great street photo / portrait of this lady.
Nice natural lighting and expression, you captured the right moment.
I'm not sure about your camera settings, maybe with a wider aperture the blue trash can in the background wouldn't be disturbing or I would've tried to use clone stamp tool in photoshop to get rid of it. That's just my opinion, don't consider it a mistake.
Best regards.

Thank you Paul. Actually she's my colleague from Iran, she has a book about different studio lighting, but I don't speak Farsi, so we decided to follow the book's instructions, this was the result. Will keep trying ;)

I couldn't help but notice the outfit. I'd freeze to death in such a dress during winter time. They look quite fashionable though.

50k usd for one pigeon?! That sounds crazy.
It's good to know, I'll make sure they won't end up in my kitchen... (sorry, couldn't resist)
Thanks for the info Mesut. Ivaylo, you'd better bring one or two of them over here...
Have a nice day everyone. :)

I don't consider it a mistake Mesut, I just pointed it out because of the heart shape. Doesn't look like a reflection and dirt usually leaves black spots. Sill lovely photo and great thoughts.

Nice one Mesut.
I wonder what is that deep blue/purple heart shaped something on the right side. Doesn't look like part of the sky. Is it only me who can see a heart there actually? :)

This is excellent Paul, I just love it, especially the waves, curves and ripples, a never ending story indeed. The strong contrast reminds me of the yin and yang symbol, it's a weird thought maybe. Best regards.
