Oh oh... run and hide or is that roll and hide?

I can't see anything I would change on this one. I like the darkness of the background. It makes me more afraid for the little eyes. Can you show us somewhere they can go to hide?

I see a nice collection of your photos here. I have not looked here for ages. Now I am glad I did.:)

Hi Kara,

Its a lovely flower with very good light. I would like to see it a tiny bit sharper and with a more faded out background. I think I would crop it closer. I took it and played, hope you don't mind.

There is excellent light on this photo. You have backlighting without loosing detail in the front. Good sharpness and framing. Nice portrait DOF. I cannot think of anything I would correct. Even his expression gives us some idea of who he is at this moment. Like... how long do I have to sit here? Are we finished yet?

Wow. I am not sure if I like black and white flowers but this one might convince me. Very good detail and light.

Wouldn't this be just too cool if done with a holga and have the vignetting in the corners? I think I hear my Holga calling me. ;)

Nice perspective on this Jose. It gives us a view of how high those cathedrals really are. Good light for the inside also. Its usually too dim to get a good shot without flash.

Brrrrrrrr, now this one says "winter" to me.

I wish there was more contrast between the white and the blue, but I do not know how to do that except to have more light when shooting the white on blue.

I like the diagonal line of trees marching off into the distance. This leads my eye into the back of the picture adding interest to the scene.

Very nice. This brings back memories of skating out in the open on a lake when we were kids.

I like the color surrounded by all the grey. I seldom like images where there is some color and the rest black and white, but on this photo it works very very well.

That was one very scary movie! And yes, this house appears to be rather like the one in the movie.

Nice work in converting it to black and white. Good tonal values. You have some pure whites and blacks with all the gray shades as well.

I only wish the house and car were not in the foreground.

The dark in this photo is the subject (positive space), the light is the background (negative space). If you can imagine the dark as pure black and the light as pure white you get forms and spaces that balance, or are pleasing to the eye in their forms; or, something like that anyway. )

Yes, I was over looking at the 'project' a couple of weeks ago. I should go back and have another look... hmmm now where did I put that link? Must be in my other jacket pocket.

I am spreading myself a bit thin again, so cannot participate. If I keep doing this to myself, I will become so thin I will be invisible. That'll be fun... just like now... all you see are the words I type. LOL.

While back here for a moment I discovered the critiques corner and could not resist getting back into the fray, if only for a few minutes. This is a fine, friendly, foto site to play on. I am sure Big Al does not put you in a corral and likely appreciates any feedback you have about other on-line photo sites that have features that are fun and helpfull in developing our talents and technical knowledge. (my sentence structure is rambling, please forgive the sloppiness).

My indoor and outdoor gardens, and my garden on line all need attention. well, just as soon as I find that link and have a look.

Hi there!

I haven't been back here in quite some time. Its great to see you shooting some excellent street stuff.

I don't know Scanno, but that does not matter to my appreciation of this photo. It has some wonderfull diagonals jig jagging into the background. The colors all seem to harmonize. They seem to camouflage her in her envirnoment, and so I do not worry about what she might encounter around that next corner. She is at home and safe.

In studying the darker subject areas against the lighter background areas I find her and the two dark verticals further frame her within an inner frame and so the subject space balances with the lighter negative space.

You are up to your usual standard! Good Stuff!!

Cheers

This is definitely a WOW. Everyone must be intimidated by your photographic abilities and so no comments.

Good action shot. I am enthralled by the curves in his body shape and the curves along the barrier of the skate park.

The use of negative and positive space are so intricately intertwined by shape, but the colors of the subject make him stand out in excellent contrast to his darker background.

And then there is the diagonal placement of the subject in the photo to make it even more dynamic. Plus the tension of seeing him almost in that sideways position and just waiting for him to fall. Oh No!

There are the viewers of the action in the background, also making me feel like I might be one of them, only on the other side of the action.

Plus the shadow to outline the fact that his feet are off the wall!

I could go on and on. What a great capture! Sharpness showing up details even in the white shirt. I wonder if you darkened the shirt a bit to bring out detail more?

Thanks Eb. That makes the photo come alive. Adds more texture.

I can see where I should take more time to play in the digital darkroom to enhance my photos.

Yes, I see what you have done in the blend. The water in the river has some excellent light on it, now, and the moss is very velvety and nice.

I wondered about RAW because of the bit of yellow I see in the greens, and wondered if it was over saturated, only. But no matter, the moss is probably a lighter green than the leaves are, anyway.

The light appears to be coming from the top right and lights up the part of the leaves that fall in its path and so I wanted that top left corner to be out of the sun's path and darker.

I have already lost 2 comments to the wrong clicks here, so I shall submit this while I am still ahead. )

Good stuff, and thanks for showing the photos you used in the blend.

cheers

I wonder if you have loaded the two images that you have blended to Usefilm? It would be interesting to see the differences and how the blend has changed the light in the photo.

I find the right side to be quite bright compared to the left and wish that you had used a tiny bit of darkening or burning on the white of the trees and brightness of the light on the right.

I want the top left to be darker, also and would burn that bunch of leaves in the top left.

This might leave us with a view down the river (bright on the water) with the leaves and moss framing the water (darker).

I think, from the color of the moss that you are not shooting RAW and you might have over saturated, just a tad.

I have tried something that is almost the opposite to what you have done. My water is dark, where yours is light. My trees are lighter, where I wish your trees were darker.

But this is just my musings for the moment. Its a very woodsy, mossy shot, in what appears to be very high light therefore high contrast.
