Hey Jonelle, Nice to meet ya. I like the feeling of this photo alot. It reminds me of a cd cover. The high contrast and colors give this photo a very youthful, pop star look. great job. By the way.. I get the Jimmy Fallon thing every time I go out at night. Went to your homepage... your a cutie youreself......( ; Email me if you want me to let you know when my portfolio is up on my site.. ---- tim

Thanks Dario, Though it might look like a photoshop trick, I didn't do any touch-ups with PS at all. It was just a really shallow depth of field and the back shoe was 12 inches or so behind the one in the front. But I can see why you might have thought that.

Hey Steven,
The "7" was what made this photo interesting to me. You could very well do a series of abstract photos that incorporate different numbers of this style. I don't think you should remove it.

Interesting, The 180 flip that you have now, gives me a feeling that something fast is about to turn the corner and come at me. If I stand up and turn my head upside down to view it the original way, I feel I'm running to the exit, perhaps chasing something. I like the color contrast and perspective. Just one thing, if you could rotate it up on the right a bit. The minor lean is a little distracting.

Love this shot. Just one question - What's going on with the person in the ocean, I can't see his legs. I'd like to know how you took this photo and what's going on.

This is definetly my favorite shot in your portfolio. I love the composition, action, and blur. I agree that the background is a bit busy, and the whites are blown out, you lose his feet. But all in all, this is a great action photo.

Dario, I like your idea to frame your photo through the open door. A very artistic and professional eye. This is a hard photo to take without a good light meter. My suggestion for fixing your original is to try and adjust your levels in photoshop. Make a duplicate layer of your photo and adjust the levels (contrast) for just the outside view (keep an eye on your sky and try not to make it too white). Now goto your second layer and adjust the levels for the (ground and doorway). All you have to do is delete the (outside) from this layer. It will then show the (outside) from the underlying layer, which has the correct settings that you previously made. Hope this helps....

Hey Dario, Just wanted to comment on a few of your photos in your portfolio. This particular shot is very nice. I would also suggest removing the white spects and dust marks that don't belong. Also keep an eye on your contrast, on the top left (which I think are cans) are a little blown out (to much white). And on the top right (the tire), I would like to see a little more definition in tred marks. By the way- the tube really helps to keep your eye from wondering off the page. It makes you continue to circle around the frame. Very Nice Job.

Novy - Let me just say that I am excited to see more of your work. I really like the style that you showed me so far. This photo is a tough one for me to critique. I usually hate to see a black and white photo with a artificially colored object. But in this photo it dosen't bother me all that much. The angle of view and composition are great and the lines from the sidewalk are very interesting. If this shot wasn't a candid you may want to see if you can shoot it without the object in her left hand, I'm not sure what it is, so its a little distracting. Also if you removed the object out of the purse, this would be an excellent product ad for the bag designer. All in all this is a wonderfull shot, I wish I took it myself.

Thanks for the comments. Kevin, I really didn't do much digitally to enhence the colors. The long exposure just saturated the colors that way. Heather - I shot this photo right after sun set, so it wasn't completely dark. I think that had something to do with how the lights turned out. They were on, but they weren't the main light source.

I really like this shot. The strain in the punchers face is just great. I also like the grainy look of the print. Nice capture.

Elangovan, very nice. I also agree with the others that the background has to go. And also the little finger thats peaking out on the right side is a little distracting for me. You posted a comment on my shot and wanted to know how I removed the background. I did it really easy and quickly by placing a black t-shirt in front of the baby and the parents shoulders. I also wanted to ask you about the (NYIP) courses that you are taking and see what you thought about them?

I also think this is a great shot. You were able to break it down to whats really important in this photo. Very minimal - I love it.

Autumn, what a great shot. The way you have it cropped now is just perfect. I really like the space on the bottom, it shows the great DOF used and adds visual interest to the portrait. The bottom right could be burned in a little more. By the way, her eyes and hair are amazing.

I would also like to know how much color adjustment was involved. I've noticed the eyes match her top perfectly, and her hair is super bright. Anyways, what a great image, it is really eye catching. You may want to try and tone down the colors a bit to keep the viewers attention on the subject and not on the colors.
