Hello Matej - I've been wondering where you might have gone, not that I'm anyone to talk!:)
Nice to hear from you.

You see in an interesting way James, when time is slightly easier I shall be back to take a longer tour. This site is so big, and if one is not on much, one tends to miss some interesting posts.

Take my comment with a pinch of salt James, nobody 'frowns'as such. Nice people run this site, really they are :)

However, project themes are primarily thought up to help promote members to think about new ideas along the theme subjects, so as one will go out try new ideas and shoot fresh images.
Not to do as I did here - dig through pass work to fit the current theme.

Oh no, not me again!
This time I'm bothered by the top little corner of white sky (you needn't take much notice as I'm just typing out loud here!)
Otherwise think this is a really pretty/cool/tranquil place to be. The 'spots' of yellow gold give good spark. Love it.

Nice close up of the silhouetted cherries, the light on the tops of the cherries is especially pleasing. I'm sure in its original bright shades of red they must make a mouth watering image :)
I, too wish the full reflections of the cherries to be seen. I guess this isn't a matter of crop but you probably were too close? The first cherry is pin sharp leaving the other two (stems) slightly out of focus. Probably a little step back would have helped.

Vancouver and around are god-sent for landscape photographers, you are so lucky to be part of it all.
I'll bet you would not have guessed the attached image to be Van Dusen Gardens a month or so ago?!
Would love to join you on a shoot sometime early summer?

Hello Becky,
Compositionally this is text book perfect, hard for anyone to find fault. This is a scene one has come to expect of beautiful BC (and Alberta - I was once ticked off for not mentioning Alberta!).
Since this is 'suppose to be' a critique site.....while the mid/upper half of the picture is perfectly exposed, I find the near half slightly too dark.
One of these days, I'll need to find out from you where all these pretty places are in and around Vancouver :)

The muted almost there colours give the feel of an impressionist painting. The contrasting water surface gives distance and depth. The perfect timing of catching the bird in frame also gives much needed third party interest.
A beautiful picture that expresses tranquillity and serenity - well done Roby.

A real and true B&W? Wow, lucky you.

Christian, as you know I just love cropping everything to a square - but here I turely believe there's a little too much space to the right of the trees, a tighter crop could work?
Also wonder maybe additional dash of contrast to the foreground will give more depth to this all white world.

Real world and real needs must/has to always come first Christian....carry no debt for heaven's sake! There was never a time line on the project so finish it off when you can for your own pleasure. Shall write you soon.
(we've had a warm Christmas here in Vancity - windows are wide open!!)

Merry Christmas Christian.
This scene reminds me of my bike ride this morning in and around Stanley Park, grey rainy skies, dark earth and tress but lit up by the silvery waters.
Yes, global warning indeed - but anyone taking notice I wonder?
Wish you the best of New Year :)

Hello Maggie M
I'm not here much either (whisper...don't tell Al!).
Thank you for the lovely long comment.
Glad you like this Maggie, however, I'm afraid you totally lost me on your 'studys of dark and light' though I take it you approve
I've been busy doing projects I told you about awhile back, a lot of fun but difficult.
Shall pop over to visit with you soon.

Interesting urban background for a pretty lady. Unusual pose for a well dressed young lady....can't help wondering why she is sitting there - if I were a story writer, tales will begin to flow

Thank you Gary for your comment.
Flower shooting is one of my joys but few make 'keeps' as I prefer unusual angles and have a habit of every nowandagain spring cleaning my portfolio!
This image was taken some time ago in a massive tight lavender farm - care had to be taken as to not cause damage. Yes, the stalk in front of the flower is an oversight Clone tool could be called upon but decided against it.

Here's joining a long line of people to say what a lovely image you have captured. The shades of shocking pink pops againsts the well chosen black background, the touch of yellow tip and the dark green focus the eyes on this unusual flower - beautiful.
I wonder if the strong pink frame line takes the eye away from this otherwise strong but simple composition - if a frame line is needed perhaps a dark green may work well?

Its that time of the year again when the sun beats hot, fields turn gold and the light becomes impossible for photographers!!
A lovely image to show the season Roberto - the mix of sharp and blur give movement, the full frame of wheat gives the viewer a sense of vast country side.

I saw the image before your name appeared and knew instantly this to be your work.
My eyes will never be the same after seeing all these squares going this way and that!! Oh boy -you must have gone to "new lows" to get this angle Rui
You and this new camera are discovering ever new and wonderful ways of seeing.....well deserved award my friend.

Hello Narabia,
I would like to join others above to say this is indeed a beautiful flower shot. Flowers being such a popular subject, searching for angles that are unusual need careful creative eyes.
This composition coupled with the eye catching colours is lovely. The high contrast of the silvery white against the dark green background give the pop.

Hi there,
I like this one The placement of the trucks give the interesting angle, tones are milky smooth too. I had to think about the overhang....its a good addition to the composition.
The print must be pretty rich eh?

Hello Michael,
Both captures are lovely. Black backgrounds seem always give the flower the 'pop', even black & white flower studies have that extra drama when put to a black base canvas.
Personally, I prefer white BGs which give a softer more natural contrast. Agree with others the dof you've manged to freeze and caputre is perfectly handled.
So long as we are in this 'honest' corner, for my taste I find the points of the flower (the main point here!) a little too sharp....if that makes any sense? Maybe a slighter hand on the USM would give the overall flower an easier blend?

Unlike Phil, I'm not a fan of sailing on high or low seas, hot sun and splashes of salt water - Yuk!
As others have said, there's nothing much wrong with this image, the exposure, colours and detail captured are all spot on. The silhouetted person behind the pattened sails adds interest too. My pikpicking is I find the placement of the boat in the frame a little too close which gives this viewer (at least) a feeling of needing to pull back from the computer. The extra long format is probably needed in this kind of shot, but doesn't work for me.
Sorry for being a party pooper Chris.

Hello Garold, you have a good eye for composition, which is a real gift for a photographer. The scene here with low fog, distant mount + near tree branches all add up well.
The sharpen tool in PS won't really help much here (as you have tried already).
I suggest, should you get the chance for another shot at this location, try a camera setting of the smallest aparture (largest number) and sharply focus on one of the nearest branches. Since this is a still scene, a slower then 400 ISO setting will also help give finer detail.

Hi Matej, thought you'd be impressed with the speed - hired a private jet for a special trip to Italy, quick snap of this photo, raced back to London to upload...just for you - haha
Home is London. Not much time of late, will catch up with your work later.

The sepia mono is perfect for this type of composition. The strong contrast between the milky smooth sky and bold metal lines is interesting. Very nice work.
